If it seemed like a rare occasion to see the Dolphins open up the season with a touchdown drive, youre right. But you might still be surprised just how rare. Not since 2000 when Miami running back Lamar Smith finished a 13-play, 70-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run has the organization started the year with six points

For the first time in his four-year tenure Tony Sparano is sitting his starters for the final preseason game. Every Dolphins starter has been replaced by his backup. That means there will be no Chad Henne , Brandon Marshall , Reggie Bush or starting offensive line suiting up for tonight’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The quarterback competition everyone including the Dolphins wanted is not happening. Chad Henne is the starting quarterback and will remain so unless he’s injured or a bolt from the blue unexpectedly delivers a Penningtonesque miracle. That’s a shame, because a legitimate quarterback competition might have either improved Henne or replaced him with someone better — both of which are good for the team.
