The quarterback competition everyone including the Dolphins wanted is not happening. Chad Henne is the starting quarterback and will remain so unless he’s injured or a bolt from the blue unexpectedly delivers a Penningtonesque miracle. That’s a shame, because a legitimate quarterback competition might have either improved Henne or replaced him with someone better — both of which are good for the team.

Quite recently, the Miami Dolphins’ running game was considered vibrant, cutting-edge and borderline dominant. The Wildcat unleashed all sorts of possibilities for Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams in 2008. They were an envied backfield tandem.

When the Miami Dolphins took running back Daniel Thomas in the second round of the NFL draft, it was an indication that the team views Thomas as its running back of the future — and maybe of the present, if Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams don’t return.
