Veteran defensive tackle Jason Ferguson, whom the Miami Dolphins signed to a new contract in March despite the fact he was suspended for the first eight games of the 2010 season, has retired, the team said.

Miami Dolphins veteran nose tackle Jason Ferguson announced his retirement Thursday evening. Ferguson has been a key component of the Dolphins 3-4 defense the past two seasons and has played in a Bill Parcells organization every year he was in the league.
