MIAMI, May 25 (UPI) — Authorities in Florida said Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall is not cooperating with the investigation into his stabbing.

Ron Ishoy, spokesman for the Broward State Attorney’s office, released a statement saying Marshall has not been cooperating with the investigation into his wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, who was arrested April 22 and accused of stabbing Marshall at their home in Southwest Ranches, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

“Despite numerous efforts, we so far have been unable to get Mr. Marshall to agree to voluntarily speak to our office about the incident. We continue to diligently pursue this matter,” Ishoy said.

Nogami-Marshall was charged with aggravated battery and was given a no-contact order to keep her from communicating with her husband.

Harvey A. Steinberg, Marshall’s lawyer, said his client does not want to press charges.

“Brandon didn’t ask for the no-contact order, has never felt threatened by his wife, and misses her,” Steinberg said. “When (they) drop the no-contact order he’ll be more than willing to sit down and discuss this matter, bringing some clarity to this unfortunate misunderstanding.”

There is the quick update of the day.

Hollywood, Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County, Florida (PRWEB) April 16, 2011

Brian Gauthier and the staff of A Family Member HomeCare joined the Meyerhoff Center as Lead Sponsor of a successful Salute to Super Bowl and Miami Dolphins Football Legend Manny Fernandez on December 2, 2010.

Thanks in part to the help of Brian Gauthier, CEO and Administrator of A Family Member HomeCare, a South Florida home health care agency, over $70,000 was raised for the Meyerhoff Senior Center at the event.

Mr. Gauthier, a Meyerhoff Center Board member, was on hand with the entire staff of A Family Member Home Care to congratulate the football hero.

Manny Fernandez, a legendary member of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins and an executive at the Sunrise, Florida office of First American Title Insurance, was honored that night for his 40 years of dedication to South Florida in a December 2, 2010 tribute benefitting the Joseph Meyerhoff Senior Center.

The dinner event, which was held at the Signature Grand in Davie, celebrated Fernandez’ football accomplishments, as well as his career-spanning dedication to South Florida charitable causes.

Fernandez was bestowed with the Meyerhoff Community Award as part of the December 2 program. Of Fernandez, Hall of Fame Miami Dolphins Linebacker Nick Buoniconti said, “Super Bowl VII was the game of his life–in fact, it was the most dominant game by a defensive lineman in the history of the game.” Among other individual accords, Fernandez was voted by Pro Football Weekly and USA Today as a member of each publication’s “All-Time Super Bowl Team” and was named “Outstanding Defensive Lineman” by the Miami Dolphins from 1968 to 1973. He played in three Super Bowls for the team, two of which were victorious (Super Bowl VII and VIII).

“Manny’s ferocious determination-both as a football player and as a friend of the community-exemplifies the perennial South Florida spirit,” said Meyerhoff Chairman Mike Colodny. “The kind of excitement he generates in all his efforts is what makes South Florida such a great place to live.”

All proceeds from the December 2 dinner event went directly to benefit the Hollywood-based Meyerhoff Center, which has been serving older South Florida adults and their families by providing a variety of programs and services since 1978.

Brandon Marshall says hip surgeries robbed him of speed

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that offseason hip surgeries in 2009 and 2010 have hurt his ability to separate from opposing cornerbacks.

Marshall has tailored his offseason training program toward getting his speed back by working out with specialists from Fit Speed Inc. He hopes he can help the Dolphins stretch the field in 2011.

“My plan is to get back to where I was in 2006 and 2007, where I was so explosive and my drive off the ball (was forceful). Working with Fit Speed helped me run a 4.4 (40-yard dash) at my pro day and I’m trying to get back to that,” Marshall told the Sun-Sentinel at Dolphins offensive lineman Vernon Carey’s charity golf tournament.

“After a few surgeries you kind of lose some explosion and some ability. Where I’m at today I’m kind of getting close to where I was at,” Marshall said.

Marshall, 27, caught 86 passes for 1,014 yards and three touchdowns in his first season with the Dolphins after being acquired from the Denver Broncos in April 2010.

“I just want that football speed back, getting to where I can break the cushion on those (defensive backs) and be able to stretch the field,” Marshall told the Sun-Sentinel.

That’s all for today guys, i’ll be back to blog you tomorrow.

Former Dolphin arrested in DUI charge

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 15 (UPI) — Former Miami Dolphins lineman Bob “Kooch” Kuechenberg has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kuechenberg, 63, of Fort Lauderdale, was arrested Saturday night on one count each of DUI second offense, DUI property damage and improper passing or lane change, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Tuesday.

Kuechenberg, who has two previous DUI arrests, was taken into custody after his car was involved in a crash on Interstate 95 north of Fort Lauderdale, the newspaper said.

Kuechenberg had “very bloodshot, watery, glassy” eyes and a “very red flush” face, and his breath smelled of alcohol, the arrest report said.

In two breath tests, Kuechenberg’s blood alcohol level was recorded at .127 and .122, officials said. Florida’s legal limit is .08.

Kuechenberg anchored the Dolphins offensive line from 1970 to 1984 and started in four Super Bowls.

Gotta run!.
